Time, Places and excitement

Standard

What is time?

Yesterday I told my family “good bye, I’ll see you in 4 months”. Time, such as 4 months, is something unreal. I cannot really feel the difference between saying “see you in a week” or “see you in 4 months”. But I could surely feel time, when I looked into the eyes of the people I care most about.

I left my parents’ house at 8 am Saturday, arrived at my hotel in Atlanta Sunday at 4 am, and landed in Liberia Sunday 7 pm (Danish time). Funny how after so many dark days, I experienced an amazing sun rice in Denmark. The sun was big, round and red. Departing from Denmark, the sky looked like a big soft blanket of cotton that was bathed in sunlight. The sun rise in Atlanta was beautiful as well, but in a different way. Atlanta was surrounded by a thick red stripe.

I felt the excitement in my body when I flew over the Caribbean’s crystal clear water and white beaches, and as I later on looked down on Lago de Nicaragua, Isletas de Granada og Isla Zapatera. Having passed the lake, the hills appeared, and the plane landed in the middle of this beautiful landscape.

I grabbed my bags and hired a taxi. The driver enjoyed small taking, which allowed me to practice my language skills. After having dropped my things off at the hostel, I went for a walk. Most of the stores were closed, but I found a Wal-Mart where I bought some groceries. I ended up eating lunch at 4.30 Costa Rica time/ 5.30 Atlanta time/ 23.30 Denmark time. Walking through town again, I observed how the locals gathered in the park, next to a church with open doors and load speakers.

It’s been 33 degrees celsius today, and now it’s just 24. Here is a lot of wind though, so it is not too hot.

Tomorrow the trip will continue to Nicaragua
